The CPTC Library has a variety of books, eBooks, media and equipment available to students, faculty, and staff to borrow, to support teaching and learning throughout all of the College's programs. Below you will find detailed information about borrowing policies and procedures. If you have any questions, please reach out to us at 253-589-5544 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Borrowing Library Material
Search our catalog to find books and other items of interest, and then log in with your CPTC email username and password to place a hold, or contact the library and we'll be glad to do it for you. Once you receive confirmation that your book is available for pick-up, stop by the library to check it out.
Check your CPTC email for notices from the library concerning recalls, holds, overdue and billing notices. The Library does not charge daily overdue fines. If overdue items are not returned after receipt of three notices, they will be assumed lost and incur a $10 fine and possible replacement fees. Any questions regarding overdues, loans, or fees can be directed to (253) 589-5544 or email@example.com.
Returning Items to Library
Library books and media (DVDs, CDs) can be returned to the Circulation Desk during open hours or to the Book Return Box located on the East side of Building 15 in the driveway.
Equipment such as laptops, webcams, calculators, must be returned to the Circulation Desk during open hours.
CPTC participates in a Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement with other Washington State community and technical colleges, to offer students, faculty and staff across the State convenient access to a larger number of library resources that support teaching and learning.
If the CPTC Library does not have the items you are looking for but they are available at another SBCTC college, Library staff will work with you to help you borrow those materials from the college library that owns them,
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a library service through which CPTC students, staff, and faculty can borrow library materials from other libraries throughout the U.S. Requests for books through ILL may take 2 or 3 weeks to fulfill; requests for articles or book chapters may be fulfilled within a day or two. If you wish to borrow items that are not available at the CPTC Library or through our Reciprocal Borrowing agreement, we will be glad to help you borrow those items via Interlibrary Loan. Please fill out our Interlibrary Loan Request Form to get started!
