Student Email Support

CPTC Student Email is available through Microsoft Outlook

Sign in to access your student email

All Clover Park Technical College correspondence will be sent to your college issued email address.  Please check your CPTC email account regularly. Using your student email will help you keep up-to-date on important information and events and communicate with faculty and other students.

** Your CPTC student email account will be created 24 hours after you have registered for classes. **

Your college issued email address is also your log in for the college Wi-Fi network, Canvas, and all student computers on campus.

How to Set Up Your Email Account

Step 1: Sign into Email via Microsoft Outlook

Go to the student email portal and enter your username and password based on these guidelines:

Username: your first initial + your last name and the last 4 digits of your student ID number, followed by @students.cptc.edu

  • Example: student Primrose Everdeen with ctcLink ID 212345678 = peverdeen5678@students.cptc.edu

Default Password:  The default password is based on your birthdate, in this format: cptcddMmmyyyy

  • Example: birthdate is June 8, 1999 = cptc08Jun1999

Step 2: Set Up a Security Measure

If you've successfully entered your username and password, a page will appear saying "More Information Required." Click "Next" and then click "Set Up Using a Different Method" to attach a phone number or personal email address to your account in case you get locked out.

NOTE: Microsoft will try to get you to install their Authenticator app. Students are encouraged to use alternative methods, like a phone number, instead. If you have the Authenticator app and it's not working, please submit an IT ticket to request for assistance.

Step 3: Change Your Password

Change your password right away, to prevent misuse of your account.  You must change your password every 120 days.

  1. Go to your CPTC email inbox.
  2. Click on your username/initials in the top right-hand corner.
  3. Click "View Account."
  4. Look for the Password tile and click "Change Password."
  5. Enter your current and new passwords.  Your new password must be at least 12 characters, with small letters, capital letters, and at least one number or special character.
  6. Click "Submit."

You can reset your password using the above steps at any time, wherever you have access to the internet.  If you forget your password, you may reset your password by following the Password Recovery process at https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/

(NOTE: this method will not work if you have not added a phone number or personal email to your account)

Step 4: Use your student username to login to Canvas, the CPTC_Students wi-fi network, and campus computers

Students traveling outside the United States must submit an IT service desk request for continued access to their student email account.

You can download the Microsoft Outlook app from Microsoft store, Google Playstore or iOS app store, depending on which model of phone you are using.
