Find library resources

Use the library catalog or the search box below to see which books and DVDs are available to check out from our Library. You are always welcome to browse the collection in-person during our open hours.

Books labelled as "High School Textbooks" are reserved for students attending the Northwest Career & Technical High School for the first two weeks of the quarter. Non-high school students who place holds on these items will have those holds suspended until week three of the quarter.

Finding and Ordering Textbooks

Students can find textbook information and order online through the Bookstore website.

Textbooks @ the Library

The Library has a small collection of textbooks available for students to use within the building or check out for our standard 28-day loan.

Emergency Book Fund

If your textbooks have been stolen, lost in flood or fire, or have been lost for other reasons, the CPTC Foundation may be able to help! Contact Cathy Purcella (253-589-5545) for more information on how to get help replacing lost or stolen textbooks.

The Library lends a limited number of laptops to students to use for the entirety of the quarter. Students must meet with the Student Technology Coordinator to get approval to check out laptops. Please see our laptop page for more details or call the the Computer Lab (253-589-5820) for more information.

Students who have overdue materials are not eligible for laptop loans.

A physical photo ID is required for laptop loans. A picture of an ID will not be accepted.

Library services

Research Assistance

Our librarians are eager to help you find information and answers to your research questions. We can assist with every step of the research process, including narrowing down a topic, developing search terms, and finding and evaluating sources.

Study Rooms

The library has several study rooms available for individual and group study. Students are welcome to make a reservation up to two weeks in advance, or check in at the Circulation Desk to see which rooms are available. Please visit us during our open hours or contact us via phone (253-589-5544) or email to request use of a study room.

Computer Access

Our Computer Lab has plenty of Microsoft PC's available for student use. No reservation is necessary: you can hop on any open computer and login with the same credentials you would use to login to Canvas.

Printing

Students have access to free printing within the Library building, with some limitations. Color as well as black and white printing is available. Please visit our Computer Lab page for more information.

Printing is not currently available to members of the community. Please visit your local public library for printing access.

Email

Student emails are created 24 hours after you register for classes. They are accessible through Microsoft Outlook and use the following default formats for username and password:

  • username: first initial + full last name + last four digits of student ID number@students.cptc.edu
  • password: birthday in this format = cptcddMmmyyyy

You can reset your password from home using Microsoft's password reset. Please note that passwords expire every 120 days.

Canvas

Your Canvas login is the same as your student email but without the "@students.cptc.edu" portion.

If you're having difficulty logging into Canvas, try resetting your password. If you require further assistance, please contact the eLearning Specialist (253-589-4534).
