The CPTC Library has a modest collection of currently-assigned textbooks (known as "Course Reserves") that are available for students to use within the Library building. When additional copies are available, students can check them out for our standard 28-day loan, with renewals.
You can submit requests to have your assigned textbooks placed on Reserve with this form.
While we do not purchase textbooks as part of our collection development, we welcome faculty donations of review copies and will purchase textbooks at faculty request with program funds.
Faculty are also encouraged to see if their textbook is already in our collection by searching the library catalog. If we have copies in the general stacks, you may request that the books be placed on Reserve through the same form.
If you are able to help the library support our students by providing an extra copy of your required textbooks for in-library use as part of our Course Reserves collection, or have availability in your budget to purchase textbook copies, please contact Faculty Librarian Pearl DeSure (pearl.desure@cptc.edu, 253-589-6067).
For a complete list of our current Course Reserves collection, please visit our Course Reserves module in the library catalog.
In rare cases, an assigned textbook may be available for licensing through Ebook Central or our other ebook providers. In this cases, pending availability of program funds, the Library will license the book with the widest access available (choices may include unlimited access, 1 user, or 3 users at one time).
The Library does not provide students with access codes or direct ebook access through academic publishers (e.g. Cengage, Pearson, etc.). Access codes and ebook purchases can be made through the CPTC Bookstore, located in building 23.
If there is an article, book, book chapter, or other resource that is not available through the Library but that you have a professional interest in, the Library can retrieve it for you through an interlibrary loan. To request an interlibrary loan, please send the following information to the Faculty Librarian (pearl.desure@cptc.edu) via email:
Items that can be delivered electronically, such as articles or book chapters, are generally filled within one week. Physical items requiring shipping from elsewhere may take up to three weeks.
Please note that loan periods for physical items are set by the lending library and renewals are not guaranteed. If you need to hold onto an interlibrary loan item for longer than the initial loan period, please contact the Faculty Librarian as soon as you are able.
Located in building 15, The Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) provides instructional design and curriculum development support. Check out their website for more information and self-directed trainings.
