Track A

EdTech 101 (15 Hours)

  • An introductory course offering an overview of educational technology and its impact on teaching and learning. We will focus on computer basics, Office 365 and Panopto.

Week 1: Introduction to Computers - Understanding computer basics, components, and different types.

Week 2: Operating Systems - Familiarizing with operating systems like Windows, MacOS, Linux.

Week 3: Basic Computer Skills I - Gaining proficiency in hardware, software, and data storage.

Week 4: Basic Computer Skills II - Mastering mouse and keyboard usage, file, and folder management.

Week 5: Internet and Email Basics - Grasping the foundations of internet usage and email communication.

Week 6: Word Basics - Discovering the layout, interface, and essential features of Microsoft Word.

Week 7: Word Advanced - Delving into proofreading, review, and collaboration on documents.

Week 8: PowerPoint Basics - Understanding the layout, interface, and functions of Microsoft PowerPoint.

Week 9: PowerPoint Advanced - Learning advanced PowerPoint features and collaborative tools.

Week 10: Excel Essentials - Exploring the layout, interface, and fundamental features of Microsoft Excel.

Week 11: Panopto Basics - Introducing Panopto, focusing on recording, and editing.

Week 12: Sharing and Publishing with Panopto - Navigating how to share and publish content.

Week 13: Panopto Analytics - Examining tracking and analytics features.

Week 14: Panopto Advanced Features - Discovering additional features and capabilities.

Week 15: Panopto Wrap-Up - Reviewing all learned material and practical applications. 

Introduction to Generative AI (15 Hours)

  • A primer on the emerging field of generative AI, exploring its potential uses in educational contexts and its implications for the future of teaching and learning.

  • A follow-up course to EdTech 101 that delves deeper into the practical application of educational technology. We will focus on Canvas Design, H5P and Hypothes.is.
